Firdos Somji


Firdos is an accomplished global financial services executive, board director, business advisor and investor.

He has had a distinguished career of over 40 years and retired as Senior Vice-President Scotiabank International Banking, where he progressed through a series of increasingly senior leadership roles in Canada, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean. These included, driving value through M&A integrations and divestures, business and cost transformations, operations management, risk management, compliance, shared services, strategic sourcing, network optimization, organizational design and customer facing roles in retail and commercial banking.

Firdos serves on the boards of Asthma Canada, Firearms Safety Education Service of Ontario, Dalhousie University MBA Advisory Council, Governors’ Circle for Markham Stouffville Hospital and several start-up company advisory boards.

Firdos is a Fellow of the Institute of Canadian Bankers, holds a MBA from Dalhousie University and earned his ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors/Rotman School of Management.
